Please join today’s statewide day of action to #SaveCHIP by calling your US Congressman and US Senators to urge them to take immediate action to reauthorize CHIP—phone numbers and a sample script are below.

CHIP’s funding expired on September 30th, and Congress has failed to take action to re-authorize the program, despite recent CBO estimates that a 10-year extension of CHIP would reduce the deficit.

In Pennsylvania, 180,000+ children rely on CHIP for their health coverage. These kids & families can’t wait while Congress plays political games with their health coverage.

Whether you talk to a person in the office or leave a message, here’s a script you can use:

Hi, I’m [FIRST NAME] and I am your constituent. I live in [NAME OF TOWN or CITY] and my zip code is _____. I’m calling today to ask [SENATOR TOOMEY or SENATOR CASEY or REPRESENTATIVE NAME] to take immediate action to make sure CHIP is extended for an absolute minimum of 5 years, preferably permanently.

I’m extremely concerned about the more than 180,000 kids in Pennsylvania who are covered by CHIP.  Sick kids need and deserve to have access to treatment, and healthy kids need CHIP to stay healthy.  These children and their families can’t wait any longer to find out if they’ll have health coverage.

This is particularly important to me, because my family [RELIES/HAS RELIED] on CHIP too.

Thank you for listening to my concerns.
