Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Friends,

As a member of the Better Choices for PA Coalition, I recently met with Governor Tom Wolf; his Chief of Staff, Katie McGinty; and Tom Hanger, Secretary of Planning and Policy, to discuss the Governor’s FY2015 budget. The budget proposes to partially restore the last administration’s devastating cuts to community based behavioral health services. It also includes an extensive revenue reform package that is key to restorations.

Governor Wolf's Behavioral Health Services Budget Cuts Restoration

Pennsylvania’s FY 2012-2013 budget included a ten percent cut to community behavioral health services. (Look back at the details here.) This cut was preceded by years of stagnant funding, and the results for mental health consumers and programs were devastating.

Governor Tom Wolf has proposed that each of the next three years include partial restoration of that ten percent until full restoration has been achieved.
