The purpose of the Beacons of Employment Excellence Initiative is to build the capacity of Pennsylvania’s Community Rehabilitation Programs (CRPs) and related programs serving individuals with a disability to provide high quality employment services.This initiative will lead to an increase in the number of community integrated employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities in Pennsylvania. Beacons of Employment Excellence are programs that commit to an employment first priority for services focused on work that provides individuals with a disability real jobs with full community integration, the potential for benefits, and the dignity that arises from gainful employment. This RFA makes funds available to selected programs for up to a 12 month period of organizational development and training and technical assistance focused on building a sustainable capacity to provide high quality employment services. Applications are due October 1, 2009.

Organizational Development And Business Management for Peer-Run Organizations
NCSTAC is pleased to announce its new series of webinars on Organizational Development and Business Management for Peer-Run Organizations. This five part participatory series will begin in October of this year and will be broadcast every other month as part of ongoing technical assistance to consumer-run organizations and services.

Saturday, September 26th at the State Capitol, Harrisburg
The NAMIWWALKS for the Mind of America is a nationwide fundraising and mental health awareness program that will be held in 70 communities around the country in 2009, including Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
These Walks will raise awareness about Mental Illness as biological brain disorders, combat stigma associated with severe mental illnesses and promote mental health services. NAMIWALKS provides support to thousands of families here in Pennsylvania and across the country.
