Glenn Koons Certified Peer Specialist Scholarship

About Glenn

Glenn Koons

Glenn Koons’ personality and skills led him to become a Certified Peer Specialist. He helped guide people through their mental health recovery journeys and loved being a source of support and encouragement for others. Whether at work or with friends, he brought hope and smiles to everyone he encountered.

About the Glenn Koons Scholarship

After Glenn’s death in 2011, MHAPA and the Pennsylvania Mental Health Consumers’ Association (PMHCA) partnered to honor Glenn through the creation of an annual scholarship for Certified Peer Specialist training. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a promising Pennsylvania candidate who demonstrates the ability to engage people, share life experiences in recovery, provide leadership, and teach others these skills.

The inaugural year scholarship was awarded in March 2012 to Demi Anne Dennis of Kingston, PA.
