All efforts to reach a compromise with the Corbett Administration on a Human Services Block Grant Pilot Program have failed. The Senate Appropriations Committee has amended the Administration’s language into H.B. 1261, which we expect will be voted on the Senate floor later today, and sent to the House for concurrence, probably tomorrow.

Please contact all of the members of the House of Representatives in your area, urging them to support Rep. Gene DiGirolamo’s amendment to H.B. 1261 (the Public Welfare Code amendments) when it comes up for a vote in the House. Rep. DiGirolamo’s amendment will replace the Administration’s “pilot program” with a more reasonable framework for a REAL pilot of a Human Services Block Grant Program. I realize that you are receiving this Alert on a Friday afternoon in June, but this is an extremely critical time for the future of Pennsylvania’s human service delivery system!
