One of MHAPA’s core values is effective mental health advocacy in local communities, the health care industry, and government bodies, businesses, and other institutions. To help ensure that public policy development and implementation supports people living with mental illness and the principles of recovery and resiliency, MHAPA monitors legislative activities at the state and national level, issuing regular action alerts to keep our stakeholders informed and encourage them to act when necessary.  We also serve on statewide coalitions and advisory groups that advocate on behalf of adults living with mental illness and children and youth with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges.
